My Winter Must Have List

It's finally winter! This summer was brutal. I guess it didn't help that we were in St. Louis in July and it got up to 116 degrees! In LA we are not used that type of weather. We are seriously spoiled with beautiful weather. Although this summer was pretty hot, especially the last couple of months. All in all, I can't complain.

I am so happy to welcome winter with open arms. With the cold weather, I am also embracing a lot of things that help me get through the chilly days. Here are some of my must have items:

I have to start with my favorite winter nail polish! I am seriously addicted to nail polish so it's fitting that I start with this.

This red nail polish is so festive and perfect for the holidays. Usually I am not a red nail polish kind of girl but this one is perfect for me. The color is not too deep or shimmery, but very vibrant. I feel like it makes my hands look so feminine. I love it!

Envy zoya nail polish
Around Christmas time I was also wearing a lot of dark green nail polish colors. I also like this dark hunter green color for fall so it's a nice transition color.

cetaphil moisturizing cream
I don't know about you, but my skin gets very dry during winter so this is a must! I ove that cetaphil doesn't feel greasy after you put it on.

Trader Joe's organic coconut oil
My hair is not safe from dryness so I use coconut oil to keep it hydrated. Coconut oil can also be used for so many other things. It does it all!

And we can't forget about keeping our lips from getting chapped! This lip balm works wonders, once my lips feel dry to the point of no return and like they are about to crack off :/

I have to end it with Abuelita Hot Chocolate. It reminds me of my childhood when I use to drink it with a piece of bolillo (bread) on the side. <3 This is definitely a comfort drink for me. It's especially good in winter. Mmmmmmmmm. Nestlé Abuelita Hot Chocolate

I would love to hear your winter favorites! Nataly Lemus Photography reviews

Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays, everyone!

Aside from a lot of gift wrapping, enjoying family time, and being thankful for our blessings, I finally got to take a couple of days off and feel better.

I left gift wrapping until the very last minute :/ I loved the gift wrap I bought for this year. I got a pretty gold one for the adults and a cartoonish one for the kids. I think most kids don't care too much for wrapping unless it's fun looking :)

I hope everyone has also been enjoying the holidays! I took Monday and Tuesday off from blogging because I spent the whole two days with family. Family time is always food for the soul for me. It never fails to make me feel renewed! I love all the food, music, and laughter. I also love giving gifts. It's nice to see what people pick out for each other, but it's so much more fun and touching to see the faces of kids light up when they get their gifts and adults, too :P Gifts are not everything, though. It's just a tradition. Nothing compares to my family and their love. That right there is my everything.

That Laker win on Christmas day was icing on the cake, though! My dad is a super loyal fan to his teams and there's no cheering for any other team at his house on Christmas day. Just the way I like it ;)

I can't wait for the new year celebrations to begin!

I hope your holiday was amazing and that it was spent with your loved ones.

Still Here!

If you're reading this then we are still here! :P All the doomsday talk was pretty funny but it was also surprising how many people actually believed it would happen. Time to say goodbye to all the doomsday talk (until a new doomsday theory comes up) and hello to winter!

On another note, I was going through some personal photos I will be sending Art to print at the lab and came across this one below. I can't help but share it with you guys. I am so in love with that man! I am such a blessed girl <3

Just an update, still feeling on the sick side, but I feel well rested, thanks to Art. I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season! Around this time I love watching Christmas movies, especially if they have really bad acting :) Mmmmmm and I love eating tamales, hot chocolate, and homemade cookies. In one sitting :P The only thing missing is some snow! I guess I'll have to go to Big Bear for that because LA may be cold but it's not going to get any snow. Can you imagine that? Snow covered buildings in LA, that would be a sight to see! I think that NyQuil is kicking in! Time to call it a night. Good night!

Under The Weather

In keeping up with Nataly's resolution to have a new blog post up every weekday in December, I (her husband Art)decided to blog on her behalf. If you follow the Nataly Lemus Photography Blog I'm pretty sure that Nataly has mentioned me on here once or twice. Nataly has the flu and I am practically making her take a day off so she can rest and feel better soon. I need my happy and healthy wife. I'm making sure she's warm, well fed, and comfortable.

Since Nataly says a blog post is no good without an image, here's what she's been having me give her all day. Keep warm everyone.

Family Mini Session ~ Sneak Peek

I've said it time and time again, one of the perks of being a wedding photographer is seeing a love story play out. Now, one of the perks of photographing families is seeing them grow. I photographed these boys for the first time almost three years ago and, wow, how much they've grown since then! It's amazing! The eldest one was much shorter than I am and now he's about two inches taller! Let me say that I am about 5'8" and he's 14! Oh, how fast they grow!

South Pasadena Engagement Session

Amanda & Matthew ~ Engaged!
South Pasadena, California

Amanda and Matthew's engagement session was a few months ago. In fact, they are all married now! I want to blog their engagement session photos before I blog their wedding photos, which will be very soon. I love that they chose to do their e-session in South Pasadena. We got to photograph in front of little boutiques, a cute cafe, a frozen yogurt spot, and even by a train station. They also incorporated some items that show who they are as a couple. You have to love that! Here are some of my fave:

Amanda said she loves to read and Matthew said he will rather watch her. They are too cute together <3

Because Matthew is a Marine, they have had a long distance relationship. A lot of their communication has been through their laptops and it will continue this way some time after their wedding. It was fitting that they incorporate their laptops into their engagement session.

Before & After (Part 2)

Because I loved yesterday's post so much, here's part #2!

On top is the straight from the camera (unedited) version and right below it is the edited version.

I didn't do much to this photo. I saturated the colors slightly and sharpened it. I also took out Art's hand because he had to hold the Christmas sign since there was no tree we could hang it from on that side. Small manipulations can really make a photo pop. To be honest, though, I like both versions :)

With this photo I warmed up the tones just a bit, adjusted the vibrancy, and sharpened the image.

Before & After

As some of you may know, I love doing "before & after" blog posts. I decided to use some recent images to show you a few samples.

Like I mentioned before in other posts, your photos straight out of the camera (unedited) should look good and editing should only enhance the image. In this case, and just my personal preference, I love bright and colorful images. Our clients never get an image straight out of the camera. I edit them to add saturation and brightness. As you know I love for colors to pop :) When it comes to children, I think that bright colors are definitely a must. I do like soft images but for my personal preference I rather have vibrant photos.

Straight out of the camera (sooc)

I brightened this image, saturated the colors a bit, brought out the color of Baby H's eyes, and sharpened it. I also took out a scratch she had on her face.

I pretty much did the same thing for this image.

Silly us!

After we were done with Melissa and Miguel's session, I asked Melissa to take a few shots of Art and me. Of course we can't be serious...ever! I love them, they are so us! I am totally in the Christmas spirit, mistletoe and all!

Happy Wednesday! XOXO

Los Angeles Baby Photographer

Nataly Lemus Photography
Keeping with the Christmas session blog post from yesterday, here's another holiday session. I wanted to make these sessions shorter but with this one it was impossible. Once you see the little cutie below you'll understand why! I love, love, love doing child photography. You get to photograph babies which make my job easy! All I have to worry is good light and setting my settings. They are cute without trying, they never feel awkward in front of the camera, and they make my heart melt. That's a perfect session, if you ask me! I swear, all these baby posts might give me baby fever!

Look at those eyelashes! Art has super long eyelashes so this, of course, made me think if we had a little girl she might have long eye lashes like Baby H! I'm telling you, the fact that she's so precious, she's a little girl and I've always said I would love one day having a baby girl, might just make me have the baby talk with Art :P Ok, maybe not so fast! :P She is such a cutie, though!

Renee & Patrick: Thank you so much for allowing us to photograph you and Baby H. Art and I had so much photographing you, chatting with you, and ooohhh-ing and aaahhhh-ing over Baby H. I hope you love the photos as much as I do! Hopefully we get to photograph your family again! XOXO, Nataly

Los Angeles Family Photographer

Nataly Lemus Photography
If you follow me on facebook then you know I offered, for the very first time, Christmas mini sessions. I had never done it before because we usually try and take December off to rest up from a busy wedding season but this time I thought it would be a fun experience to try something new and offer a limited amount of mini sessions. It's crazy considering this was the busiest wedding season to date, but it has been so much fun! We've enjoyed photographing some of our past couples and some new ones. I think I might try doing more of these once in a while because it's fun for us and for the families/couples.

Let's start with the photos! Here are two different sessions of people that I love!

Let's start with Melissa & Miguel with their little one. You may remember them from the many times I have blogged photos of them throughout their love story :)

There is something so beautiful about the photo below. I love the love Melissa has for her baby and for motherhood. It's totally inspiring!

Moving on to another session! I love being able to include my godson in a blog post because I am so proud of him! He's super independent and we have to get the photos quick because he's ready to be on the move from one second to the other. Here are just a few :)

I figured out a way to make my godson laugh just by saying one word. It's so cute to see him smile so much!
