Hanging out with my cousin

This past week I got to photograph my beautiful cousin. Of course, we had to make some time to get some shots together that didn't consist of one of us holding the iPhone away from us for a photo :)

After Art got this shot, he said "you had to be cousins," because we did the same face without knowing! :P

This one is just plain the one above wasn't!

An action shot - showing my cousin how I want her to pose. I am better at showing than explaining.

Of course, I have to show you a sneak peek!

Isn't she a beauty?! More coming soon!

Jennifer & David ~ Engaged!

Downtown Los Angeles, California

Six to eight months before their e-session, Jennifer and David decided to do their engagement session at night and in City Walk to get the city look. Well, fast forward to a week before their e-session, we decide that we might have too much trouble with City Walk security than it was worth. I suggested Downtown LA since it has the city-feel and has a lot of lights to go with their night time theme. I am soooooo glad they agreed because I was completely inspired by it. For one, it was a night time shoot, which it's not very common and two, it was not your every-esession spots. We walked around Downtown and avoided the areas that you see in many engagement sessions.

It's always so much fun getting to know our couples. I can get a feel for their personalities when I first meet with them, but nothing beats talking to them about anything and everything like we do at e-sessions. I feel a lot more connected to them and their wedding, through their stories.

Jennifer & David: Thank you so much for being so much fun!

No Time to Say Hello, Goodbye. I can't wait for your Alice in Wonderland theme wedding! I know it's going to be amazing!

I love how Jennifer and David incorporated their theme into the e-session. They wore Alice in Wonderland shirts! Too cute!

A big thank you to Elena for doing such a great job with Jennifer's make-up.

I Love LA!

As I was editing some photos from a recent engagement session in Downtown LA, I came across some amazing shots Art got of the scenery. I love, love, love the images he captured for three reasons: 1. My husband took it; 2. it's his perspective; 3. they portray how beautiful the city that I love is!

I was born in Los Angeles in the mid 80's. When I was born, my parents lived right next to the convention center, before it was expanded. Much has changed since then, but one thing I always remember that still remains are the beautiful buildings in Downtown LA. I remember being about 3, in my dad's car, and passing right next to them on the 110 FWY. I was so small that I couldn't see all the way to the top of the buildings...might have been the child seat keeping me back :P My dad always tells me that when we would pass by downtown I would get excited to see the buildings and always said "full." Till this day we have no idea why I would say that, but my dad's stories of me and how excited I would get to pass by downtown is why I remember it so vividly since I was a little girl. I do wish I knew what the whole "full" thing was about, though :P Maybe I was trying to say big...or tall? I don't know! :P

What I do know is that I am so proud to be from Los Angeles. I am proud to have gone to school in LA, found my love in LA, got married in LA. I am proud to live in a city full of diversity. I am proud to look out my window and see the beautiful buildings you see above. I am proud of the many memories of my childhood in LA. I am proud to see that no matter how negative some people may speak of Los Angeles, it is a beautiful city with plenty of beautiful sceneries, and interesting people, to say the least. I am proud that in this city, the most amazing people I know reside. I am proud to be born and raaaaaiiiiiised in good ol' LA!

Family Session - Granada Hills

I don't even know where to start with this post. I've said it time and time again that I love what I do. I say this because I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart. Meeting people like the one's in this session make me feel extremely blessed. I can't even begin to explain how honored and grateful I am to have the privilege to photograph such a special family. It is an honor to be invited into their life to capture precious moments between the people they most love. That right there is trust and I am grateful to them for having trust in me to capture moments they want to remember forever. I am grateful that they invite us in to get to know them, capture their love for each other with our cameras, and tell their story with every click we take.

From the very beginning to the moment we said our goodbyes, I had nothing but absolute fun. I have always told Art that if I had to choose between having all girls or all boys, I would choose all girls. This session totally changed my mind! Seeing the way the boys interact and love their parents made me say "I would not mind having all boys, at all." If you know me then you know that is a huge statement because I always talk about wanting girls when I have children.

I had never done a family session with more than one child, so I must admit that I was a bit nervous. Would they listen to me, would they think we were funny when tried to make them smile, would they not like the camera? The boys were the best ever! They listened to every single direction, laughed at our jokes (I think they even liked us a bit :P ), hammed it up for the camera, and never complained. Lucky us, right?!

Like I said, I am extremely grateful that Elena chose us to photograph her beautiful family. She is one of the coordinator's (and make-up artist) for the Tina Molina Team so I am sure they deal with many, many photographers. The fact that she chose us is absolutely flattering :)

Elena: Thank you for being so awesome and for introducing me to your beautiful family. I had never had so much fun at a family session like I did with you guys and we always have fun, so that says a lot! :) I hope to repeat this over and over again :) Hugs to you all!

Meet the boys:

I don't do full names when it comes to kids so initials should do.

Meet "M" - the coolest kid I know with an energy for days :)

Meet "A" - shy and quiet, but oh so cool as well!

Meet "D" - the sweetest little boy ever. You just want to hug him!

an extra shot, for being the baby! Total Toddler GQ!

Jennifer & David ~ Sneak Peek!

Today we had an awesome night photographing Jennifer and David. They opted to do their e-session at night...well, mostly at night. It was our first e-session in Downtown LA (aside from the Disney Concert Hall) and I loved it! I'm glad they liked my idea of having their engagement session there. It was awesome to try a new location and have a couple who did not care when they got drenched by a huge fountain!

Anyway, here are just a few teasers. A lot more to come!

This is my favorite shot! The city looks amazing as the backdrop!

I could not choose between black & white and color
so here's the color:
