Happy New Year!!!

I hope all of you, our blog readers, bring in the new year surrounded by all those you love!

This year has been great! We've grown in so many ways. Our clients have been out of this world awesome! We were incredibly lucky by having so many amazing clients. We couldn't ask for more!

I can't wait for next year! We're ready to work hard! Since I prefer to include photos with a post, below are some actions shots of us at some of our favorite weddings of the year!

Before I forget, this upcoming January I am keeping up the tradition of blogging every day, so be sure to call me out if I don't! Just like the past two January's, if I miss a day of blogging in January someone can win a free session. For those of you who have not been reading my blog that long I will give you the 411 tomorrow!

Enjoy New Year's Eve! Hugs to you all!

Happy (belated) Christmas!

I hope you had a very merry Christmas! I meant to get on the blog and write a little something, but we were running around doing last minute things that I never got around to it!

However, I do have a photo of our Christmas tree which was purple and gold this year.

What do you think? I loved it! For those of you who follow me on facebook, you know the story behind this tree! I'll give you guys the short version. Art suggested we get a small tree this year since the past few years we've had 8 footers. Well, I went with the intention of getting a small tree (5 ft) and thought I bought a 5 ft tree. Well, it turns out they gave us a 7 (ft) tree :) Hey, I tried! It was meant to be!

We also made our own ornaments. Can you guess who made what? :)

Anyway, I have some info I need to post for clients and potential clients, but I will do a separate post later on today and keep it pinned at the top.

Fave Vendor: Something Blue Stylists

As a wedding photographer I get to meet a lot of other vendors. There are many times when I will see a particular vendor way more than once a year. Of course after seeing their work I end up admiring their work whether they are videographers, make-up artists, florists, etc.

Over the past few years I have definitely met a lot of vendors who I admire so much that I recommend them to our clients. I only recommend vendors whose work I love so much that I would actually use them for our own wedding...if we would renew our vows...or something (hint, hint).

Anyway, I get asked a lot by brides who do I recommend for videography, flowers, DJ, etc. I decided it might be a good idea to blog about some of our favorite vendors once in a while. A few months back I asked brides whether they would like that or not and since I only got "yes" from them, here is the first featured vendor on our blog :)

Something Blue Stylists - Andrea Martin - Make-up Artist

I have to tell you that I've seen Andrea's work a couple of times and it's beautiful. I really feel that a bride should have her make-up professionally done for at least 2 reasons. 1. You deserve to be pampered on the day of your wedding. 2. A professional make-up artist knows what looks good on camera and what does not.

I know there are many Makeup Artists out there but like I always say, personality goes a loooooooong way! Andrea's fun, down to earth, bubbly personality really makes her the whole package when you see what she can do with make-up :) Sometimes the most nervous a bride will be is while she gets ready because of the anticipation to go and marry her husband-to-be! That's when you need someone who is calm and talkative that will help you relax while you get your make-up done!

So if you are looking for a make-up artist, Andi is the girl for you! Check her website out by clicking HERE.

The Castaway Burbank Wedding

The Castaway - Burbank

As promised, here is Stacey & Mike's wedding!

I am starting to notice a trend with my wedding posts...I like to start with the wedding shoes :) So, lets do this!

The cutest garters I've ever seen!

You see the small paper crane in between Stacey's bouquet? Well, Mike made that for her on their first date. How cute is that?!

I really want to touch on the following images just a bit. Stacey and Mike decided they were going to do a "first look" before their ceremony for timeline purposes. If you are one of my clients you know that I never sell that on to me clients. I don't think there is anything wrong with seeing each other, though. Art and I did the "traditional" thing and did not see each other and we loved it that way. So, whenever a client asks me what do I suggest I usually say that unless their timeline really asks for it, due to personal experience, I suggest they do not see each other first. Well, let me just say WOW! Mike and Stacey's first look was so touching, romantic and emotional. Some of my favorite images EVER are now from their first look. The images are so personal and touching. They radiate so many feelings. So the moral of the story is "don't knock something 'cause you haven't tried it!"

Anyway, here are some of my faves from their first look:

Stacey was nervous before seeing Mike, so much so that she was shaking while I took a shot of her holding the garter. She totally needed to see him!

My shot - I know they are similar but I had to show you both!

Stacey was so cool and calm when Mike did this (below). I think I would have freaked out, especially seeing what the other side looked like!

Ceremony time

After doing wedding photography for a few years now, I've learned to anticipate certain things. I knew Stacey's dad was going to shed a tear (or two) and right after I thought it he did it. Very touching :)

When I first met with Stacey and Mike, Stacey asked me if I photographed the father/daughter dance. Of course I do! If y'all read my blog then you know it's one my favorite parts of a wedding :) So here is Stacey and her dad dancing :)

I don't want Mike to feel left out so here is the Son/Mom dance :)

Last but not least, Stacey and Mike dancing for the first time as Mr. & Mrs.
