Happy New Year! 2008!

I can't believe we are about to bid farewell to 2007! This year was full of blessings for me. Many opportunities were given to me and a lot of doors have opened. It still feels like a dream, but thankfully it's not! Even though I did have some trials this year, it did not make me lose my concentration on what matters!

I want to thank all my clients for allowing me to photograph their wedding. I truly cherish each and every single couple! It was an honor to have met so many new people and have gone to so many new places. I can't wait to see what 2008 holds!

I am thankful for the many new friendships I have made with so many of my colleagues. I thank you so much for being open and helpful, but above all, I thank you for your friendship.

Thanks to my wonderful husband, Art! He is with me every step of the way, no matter what it is. He is there to keep me company when I am editing, regardless of how late it is. He is also always there to remind me that I have to peel myself off the computer. At times it's hard, but he is persistent :) Thank you so much for being such a great husband and soooooo understanding. I know it's hard to have to share me with the computer and Lightroom, but in 2008 that will change :)

Thanks to my Dad for being so supportive. He means the world to me. Without his positive words and support, I do not think I would be where I am right now. Not only professionally, but as a person. Papi, usted es la razon por la que yo soy fuerte. Todos los dias le doy gracias a Dios por bendecirme con un padre tan maravilloso como usted. Todo pudiera estar mal en mi vida, pero mientras este usted en ella yo estare bien.

Thanks to my family (my biggest fans, after Art). They are the ones that keep me grounded and sane. I can count on them no matter what. I know this year was a bit hectic and there were many times that I was missing in action, but I promise that this upcoming year it's going to be completely different! I love you guys!

I can't wait to see what 2008 holds for me. I will give it my all!

I wish you and your families an awesome and blessed 2008!
Here is a photo from Christmas, just for fun.
Can you tell that I am not comfortable in front of the camera :P

Brooke & Bryan ~ Married!

Escondido, California

I had to get this wedding in before the new year! It was the last wedding I shot this year.

I did not know much about Bryan and Brooke since Brooke's sister, Kendra, was the one that hired me. However, when I met them I felt completely comfortable. Everyone was totally mellow and completely cool :)

Here are some of my faves:

The beautiful fall theme set-up

A gift from Brooke

Brooke's grandparents asked me to take a photo of them. They were so sweet!

Once the reception started it was time to rock on!

A big congrats to Kendra who helped Brooke plan such a beautiful wedding!

Oh Christmas tree, how lovely are your branches!

About 2 weeks ago Art and I went Christmas tree shopping. I was super excited since this was the first Christmas tree we were going to pick out since we got married. Well, actually, this was the first X-mas tree we were going to pick out together ever. The past year we did not get to buy a tree so we were both bummed out, but we made up for that this year!

When we got there, I immediately started scouting the place for the perfect tree. Unfortunately, I fell in love with a 12 footer that did not fit in our home. Not to worry, Art, with his charming way, persuaded me to buy a 9 footer instead. Of course I had to pick out the fullest tree of them all. The girl even had a nickname for the tree...too bad I can’t remember what it was!

I can’t believe I wanted the 12 foot tree. The one we got barely fit through the doorway! We had to push and push, pull and pull. I kept snapping shots of Art struggling with the tree. Until he told me to put the camera down and help, that is! Oops!

Poor Art! How could I have not noticed he needed help?!

I will try and post some images as soon as possible of the tree in all it's decorated glory!

Lunch with a Star!

Borrowed from Jasmine Star's blog. Art laughed when he saw this image because he said that every time I am asked to make a silly face I immediately tilt my head to the right and stick out my tongue to the left.

A few days ago I was privileged to have lunch with Jasmine Star along with other great photogs. When I got the e-mail from Jasmine inviting me to lunch, I immediately checked my calendar and jumped with joy when I saw that there was nothing there!

Jasmine is an amazing photographer, but she is just as amazing, if not more, as a "regular" person (I did not know that was even possible!). Right of the bat you can tell that she is completely genuine, open and kind. It was a pleasure to meet such a humble and giving person!

A lot of people may think that photography is very competitive and, I guess, it might be, but thankfully I have found a circle of colleagues who are open to sharing and helping each other out. If there is anything that I can help with I am more than willing to do so as well ;)

Jas, thank you so much for including me in the lunch. Above all, thank you so much for being real...for being you! Thanks to all my other colleagues there! I hope to see everyone again :)

Leslie & Matthew ~ Married!

Laguna Beach, CA
Pacific Edge

Leslie and Matthew had a small, intimate wedding by the beach in Orange County. The Pacific Edge in Laguna Beach is a great venue, small and cozy.

When I met Leslie she was ready to go and marry Matthew! They were running a bit behind schedule and I could tell that with every minute she grew more and more eager to finally say the I DO's that they had lingered to say for a while now.

When Leslie was walking down the stairs with her father right next to her, Mathew and their son waited for Leslie to finally stand beside them. When Leslie was finally standing face to face with Matthew she could not help, but let out a few tears of happiness.

Their ceremony was great. It was the first time I witnessed a Native American Ceremony. I had no idea that you are not allowed to photograph the ceremony, but I am glad they let me know before time! Everything that was done and said had such a wonderful meaning and it was really touching.

Although the ceremony started a bit late, the sky seemed to stay bright until Leslie and Matthew's ceremony was done.

Then, it was time for talking, mingling, and dancing.

Here are some of my faves:

I could not choose between these two. I like the post processed image below, but I also like the one straight from the camera. What do you think?

Straight out the camera, except for some sharpening.

I took this one while I was moving to another side, but it was the perfect time to catch this image. There is something about this image that makes it one of my top favorites. It might be because it seems intimate...I got a moment that nobody else was able to see from their view...I don't know, I always choose favorites because they make me feel close to my clients, there is something in the image that makes it personal to me.

This is a sweet image of Matthew's brother with his daughter. I love it!

Q&A

I thought it would be a good idea to do a Q & A every week with question(s) that I receive often from clients/potential clients.

There might be questions you did not even know you had ;)

Do you include my images on a CD/DVD?
Yes, I do. All your images will be given to you on DVD's.

Do you have back-up gear?
Of course! That is a must! I have two cameras for myself and two for my second shooter.

Who is your second shooter?
Art is now my official second shooter. Half of the images you see on this blog are his images.
